JELLY BOWS
First thought of as a practical joke, it quickly became an item of interest at Coastal Archers.
First outing was the Somerset interclub 2006 and once the bug got ahold of us developed into our charity challenge.

The children's hospice at Wraxall are our nominated beneficiaries and all incomes go directly to them,
but how to generate income? A local derby was imagined and developed into our somewhat humorous bending and adjusting of existing GNAS rules.
Well, not bending really, more of a complete loss of rules and introduction of several new ones which change from time to time. Limitations of achievable distance dictate the round and safety dictates that a judge control shooting at all times.

So here we are throwing down the gauntlet to selected Somerset clubs, issuing challenges left right and centre to encourage them to turn up and give us their money.
(simple right?). Entertainment is by way of rule 1 (or is it 3? or 4?): Everyone must wear something red - use your imagination.

2007:

Saw us challenge Mendip Bowmen and Wellington Bowmen - a grand success.

An article in Archery UK got good feedback and encouraged us to spread our wings further.

2008:

Jelly Bow challenge this year is bigger and includes Puriton Gold and Phoenix Archers so the field will be bigger and hopefully there will be more monies handed over to the Children's Hospice at Wraxall.

You may have seen the opening scene of Gladiator where the hero is walking along the line offering encouragement to the troops and more lately Gordon Ramsey doing a spoof in an advert for his cooking programs . . .

Yes, we are thinking of doing our own version!

Hold on to your hats and be prepared for anything on the day.

2009:
